Caring for Your New Pearls and Leather Collar and Leash
- Always remove your dog's pearls prior to swimming. Exposing the hardware to salt water, chlorine water and lake water will lead to rust appearing. If your collar does get wet, just be sure to dry it off with a soft towel.
- Pearls can be "dipped and swished " to remove surface grime. Dip the pearls in a bowl of warm, soapy water. Follow by rinsing and drying with a soft towel. An additional spraying of acrylic sealant can also be applied once dry. This will increase the beauty and life of your pearls. Contact us for recommendations.
- Always remove your pearls before applying any flea or tick treatments!
- Leather collars and leashes should be periodically cleaned with saddle soap and then a leather conditioner. Specialty leathers require specialty care. Metallic leathers should not be allowed to get soaking wet. A few raindrops is fine, but anything more and the water can damage the foil in the metallics.
- To clean the hardware on your collar or leash, use a metal or brass polish. Follow the directions given on the specific product.
